Ezra Chapter 10

3. Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, confessed that they had been unfaithful to God. What did they have as a nation in "spite" of their failure? vs. 2

Note: Ezra here disappears from the Biblical record for about thirteen years, when he appears again in the Book of Nehemiah. His passion then was the same as it was at the end of the Book of Ezra: to transform the people of God by bringing them the Word of God.

1. Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, confessed that they had been unfaithful to God. He said that God had given them "hope" in spite of their failure if they turned back to Him. 2. It was sad for the wives to have to leave their husbands and take their children back to their father's households, but this was something that had to be corrected to rid the camp of the idolatry that was brought in to the assembly. Our sin has consequences that brings hurt to others around us. Not only do we need to confess our sin, but to turn away from it and separate ourselves from it.

3. We are taught as Christians to marry within the faith as well. Comment on the following Scriptures:

4. In the case of marrying outside of the faith when you do not know better and becoming a believer or realizing the mistake later in the marriage, Paul has given specific commands that a believer should do everything possible to remain in the marriage. What are his reasons for this?

5. The Bible also teaches that divorce is not a good thing; in fact God hates it. Sometimes the unbeliever leaves the believer, and Paul states that in such cases the believer is free of guilt in the the manner. Comment on the following Scriptures.
